Five nabbed for duplication

PANJIM: In a surprise raid, Crime Branch has arrested five dealers for selling duplicate printing products of a leading international company in Margao, Vasco and Ponda, on Thursday.

PANJIM: In a surprise raid, Crime Branch has arrested five dealers for selling duplicate printing products of a leading international company in Margao, Vasco and Ponda, on Thursday. 
The raid was based on information shared by experts attached with Mumbai-based Enforcers of Intellectual Property Rights (EIPR) that duplicate products were sold under the brand name Hewlett Packard at five shops. The company employees were also a part of the raiding team led by SP Kartik Kashyap.  
The accused identified as Chandrashekhar Mottupali, Vikas Agarwal, Panchanbhai Dander, Kailash alias Baburao Sonkambale and Mavji alias Parbat Lohar were arrested under sections 420 (cheating) of the IPC and sections 51 and 63 of Copyright Act, 1957. Three separate cases have been registered as the raids on three shops in Vasco and one each in Margao and Ponda, took place in different jurisdictions. 
However, the sixth accused Deelip Purohit, owner of one of the shops, managed to escape. The total value of good seized is calculated at Rs five lakh. Twenty eight year old Baburao, a resident of Ponda is working as a manager in his shop. 
EIPR’s Suryakant Kharat is the complainant in the case. The agency provides government, businesses and individuals with information, analysis, training, advice and products to mitigate the growing risks associated with white–collar crimes, misuse of property, intrusions to computer networks, e-commerce site construction and usage, fraud, physical attacks, threats, violence, and uninformed decisions based upon incomplete or inaccurate information.
