CANACONA: A family of five was seriously injured after the driver of their car lost control of the vehicle, which collided into a tree beside the Margao-Karwar highway at Partgali, Canacona on Wednesday afternoon. The driver has been booked.
The critically injured are: S V Naik (38), Priya Naik (36), Arav Naik (8), Aditya Naik (3) and Anaya Naik (3). They were first taken to the Canacona Community Health Centre, then to Hospicio Hospital, Margao, and later to GMC, Bambolim.
Vasudev Naik, the driver from Tonca-Caranzalem, suffered only minor injuries. According to him, he lost control of the car while moving to the side of the road to make way for an oncoming vehicle.
Canacona Police have registered a case against him under Section 279 of IPC.
