CORTALIM: A disqualification petition against the Sancoale Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar and two panchas has been filed in the Bombay High Court.
Apart from Borkar, petitions have also been filed against Shilpa Naik and Derick Vales.
In his petition, Narayan D Naik, a resident of Sancoale, alleged that the respondents had participated in the resolutions in which they had pecuniary interest and therefore had attracted disqualification under the provisions of Goa Panchayat Raj Act 1954. The petition is likely to come up for admission in the High Court this week.
Last year, two disqualification petitions were filed against two panchas also on similar charges.
Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar filed a disqualification petition against Panch Sharan Meti while former sarpanch Roquezinho Vales (Rocky) filed a disqualification petition against Panch Rosalina Moniz.
With this, five panchas in the 11-member Sancoale Panchayat are facing disqualification petitions.
