MAPUSA: The Anjuna Police arrested five staff of Sunburn organising agency for allegedly committing theft of entry bands of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festival worth Rs 82.50 lakhs.
According to the police, one Arvind Kumar lodged a complaint on December 29, stating that 600 Sunburn 2023 entry passes, all worth Rs 82.50 lakhs, were stolen.
An FIR was registered at the Anjuna police station under Section 381 IPC and investigation was taken up. During the course of investigation, the police team apprehended five persons.
The accused were identified as Shivam Chari, Mahesh Gawas, Manjit Gawas, Yashin Mulla and Sidhhanagouda Hanchinal, all residents of Ponda. All the accused were working for the organiser of the Sunburn festival. Police said that passes worth Rs 60 lakh were recovered on the instances of the accused.
The police team which apprehended the accused consisted of Anjuna PI Prashal Dessai, and PSIs Ashish B Porob and Sahil Warang. and constables Abhishek Kasar, Shanu Gaonkar, Shambha Shetgaonkar and Mayur Ghadi.
The investigation was carried out under the supervision of Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalvi and overall supervision of SP North Nidhin Valsan, IPS.
