VASCO: Law has taken its course in the case of Monday agitation of the taxi owners at Dabolim. The Dabolim Police have registered offences against five taxi owners for assaulting the staff of the Goamiles app counter and their employee driver on Monday. The police have also sought cancellation of their taxi permits. The booked taxi owners, however, claim that this is to suppress their voices.
The Yellow and Black taxi operators at Dabolim Airport protested against the opening of the Goamiles taxi service counter at the Airport and in a fit of anger got into a confrontation with the driver and the counter staff of the app taxi service. The erring taxi owners have been booked for threatening and assaulting the victims in this fiasco.
The action has come after the staff of Goamiles app counter filed a complaint against the yellow black taxi drivers in the alleged assault case.
Sanjay Naik, the President of United Taximen Association (UTA), Anand Pednekar, Dinesh Shetye, Ibrahim Shaikh and Chandu Gaad have been booked under Sections 143, 431, 504, 506(II) rw 34 IPC.
The police will now summon the accused in the case.
“We have increased security at the airport to avoid any law and order problem henceforth,” said Nolasco Raposo, Police Inspector in-charge of Dabolim.
However, Sanjay Naik the President of UTA, has cried foul and claimed that the case is out of suppression against the yellow black taxi operators to silence their voices.
