He said that the Ponda Jaycees is organising sports event every year on the occasion of Bandodkar’s birth anniversary (March 12) and death anniversary   (August 12).

When asked some primary schools are on verge of collapse and some are in dilapidated condition, Naik said that in order to preserve and run successfully, the primary schools should be handed over to the villagers by forming committees to look after them.

Dhavalikar said privatisation and negligence by the successive governments is the reason behind closure of primary schools and dilapidated condition.

The Cooperation Minister said he has well maintained primary schools in his constituency. It is the responsibility of local representative to look after the primary schools in their area.
