Floral tributes paid to Gandhi at Bastora

BASTORA: The extra ordinary Bastora gram sabha paid floral tributes paid to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti in the panchayat hall. 
Aldona MLA, Glenn Ticlo demanded strict action against those involved in GMC goof-up wherein body of Januz Gonsalves from Aldona was disposed an unidentified body. Those responsible for this act should be dismissed. 
“I demand strong action for this carelessness and the message should go out loud and clear to all the employees working in the various departments. 
The VDC Convenor of Bastora Panchayat, Andrew D’Souza spoke on the importance of gram sabha and GPDP. 
“Mahatma Gandhi always wanted the panchayats to be empowered. He wanted the villagers to plan for the village. The villagers are the best people to know what is required for their village. I appeal to the people to cooperate with the door to door garbage collection carried out in Bastora,” he said.
Sarpanch Savio Martins spoke on the GPDP works undertaken in Bastora and added that the local MLA was instrumental in getting Rs 30 crore for the village developmental plans. 
On the GMC goof-up he said it was the biggest blunder and strict action should be taken against the culprits. “We should not politicise such issues as the sentiments are involved,” he added.
The Aldona MLA congratulated the winners and others who participated in the various competitions such as idol making, decoration, rangoli and poster competition organized by the panchayat during Chaturthi.
