PANJIM: Following directions by the Bombay High Court at Goa, the Department of Mines and Geology have constituted taluka-wise flying squads under Mamlatdars to crack down on illegal and unauthorised excavation and quarrying in the State.
The flying squad comprises the Mamlatdar, the Police Inspector of the concerned police station or any police officer not below the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector, police constables, and officials from the Department of Mines, PWD, Transport and Settlement and Land records.
