PANJIM: The five-day Goa Food and Cultural Festival began on Wednesday with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar inaugurating it at Campal ground before an enthusiast crowd.
On day 1, thousands of tourists and locals converged at the venue. Like in earlier years, this year too, the festival promises to be entertaining and exciting with a line-up of around 60 stalls serving a blend of cuisines and beverages of Goa.
“Goa Tourism organises this unique festival every year with an endeavor to provide a platform and a melting pot for Goan cuisine and culture. It is encouraging to see this festival getting better every year with much enthusiasm and participation from tourists, locals, artistes and performers and tourism stakeholders,” Parrikar said.
Tourism Minister Manohar Azgaonkar, who was present, said the festival promises to be spectacular. “I am happy to see the elaborate arrangements made at the Goa Food and Cultural Festival 2017. As Tourism Minister, I am keen on introducing more festivals that will add distinctive elements to the State,” he said. The minister, asked about the proposal to bring back Electronic Dance Music festivals to Goa, declined to comment stating, “The file is under study.”
GTDC Chairman Nilesh Cabral said the festival looks attractive with appropriate measures put in place along with a variety of cuisines, programs, fun and activities.
