MARGAO: The Forum for Rights of Children’s Education (FORCE) on Wednesday said it is not in favour of starting classes in schools across the State.

The Forum said in absence of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for starting schools in Goa it will be impossible to control the virus spread.
FORCE convenor Savio Lopes said, “In the absence of SOP and facilities, Government of Goa shouldn’t reopen the schools “.
“Even if SOP is ready, the Central SOP says that only 20 students should be seated in a class. Goan schools have classes with 60 or 70 students, how to manage this” Savio asked.
“Re-opening of schools for this year has to be cancelled all together. If the government wants, it can go ahead with classes of Xth and XIIth with strict hygiene and distancing,” Savio said.
Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro is also opposed to the re-opening of schools in Goa.
“Goa Government imposed lockdown when there were no COVID-19 cases and now when cases are high and with October and November peak staring at us, reopening of schools should be rethought,” he said.
