NEW DELHI: Two petitions pending before the Supreme Court for disqualification of a dozen MLAs of Goa who defected to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party are further postponed, with the new tentative date of October 13.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde last heard the case on August 11 when it was adjourned on the plea of Speaker Rajesh Patnekar for filing additional documents. The case has not come on the board since then.
There are two writ petitions, one by Goa Congress president Girish Chodankar against 10 Congress MLAs who defected to the BJP to help it gain a majority after the elections to form the government. Another petition is by Sudin Dhavalikar, the lone MLA of Maharashtravadi Gomantak Party (MGP) against defection of his party’s two MLAs: Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar and PWD Minister Deepak Prabhu Pauskar.
