Mapusa: Stating that all parties must work together to save Mhadei river in the interest of Goa, AAP Goa convener Rahul Mhambre strongly criticized recent statements of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant where he focused on failures of Congress and failed to comment on his plans to save mother Mhadei.

“10 years of Congress, 8 years of BJP but still Goans are losing mother Mhadei. Both these parties are busy playing blame game. I want to ask the CM that when he imported 12 MLAs of Congress to form Government, did he even think of what they have done so far to save Mhadei during their tenure. Now the CM is taking a live press conference to tell people of Goa what Congress did. Does he think that Goans are fool? What has he done to protect Mhadei,” Mahambre questioned, while emphasising about Mhadei’s importance.
“The CM should also tell people of Goa that when Filipe Neri was there in the Congress Government as WRD Minister and failed to save Mhadei then, why the same ministry was given to Neri again. If CM is stating that he is trying all sorts to save Mhadei, then why he didn’t bring up this issue before Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit,” said Mhambre.
He added that BJP at the Centre has compromised the interest of Goans since Karnataka has more parliamentary seats at the Centre and Goa has only 2 MPs.
“The CM has also been silent about the gross violations done by BJP’s Karnataka Government, which is in contempt of the Court order. The structures built by the Karnataka government have diverted the Mhadei water. We can see that the level and flow of water has reduced even when Goa has received the highest rainfall ever. Just imagine, what will be the situation in summer, “Mhambre added.
“It’s time that all Goans should come together and pledge to protect mother Mahdei, lets end this blame game and unite for the cause. It is about our right, dignity and our Mother and future of next generation. Nobody wants to see their children dying of thirst, if we don’t want to put the future of our children at stake, we must work together as a unified force,” he added.
