VASCO: AAI Director Bhupesh Chand Hans Negi has stated that there was steep decline in international tourist arrivals as well as chartered flights this year.
Speaking to reporters after officially taking charge of Dabolim airport recently, Negi informed that the number of chartered flights had dropped by around 7.46 percent, but added that the domestic flights to the State had been increased by 16.61 percent. He also stated that the drop in Russian tourists was due to the deprecating value of the Russian ruble.
Sources at Dabolim airport have also informed that there had been a consistent decline in the number of foreign tourists during the charter season 2015-16, while the number of domestic tourists had drastically increased.
