PANJIM: Asserting that BJP has no intention of solving the ongoing crisis on the mining industry, the Congress party on Saturday said that as long as the BJP rules in Goa and at the Centre, there would be no solution to restart the industry.
Congress party has extended its support to the mining belt bandh call given by Goa Mining People’s Front (GMPF) on February 26.
Addressing media persons, Congress general secretary Adv Yatish Naik said that since Supreme Court order on February 7, 2018, both State and Central governments, ruled by the BJP, have miserably failed to solve the State’s mining issue by bringing about a legally sustainable solution as both the Governments are in “deep slumber”.
“Every problem has a solution. There is no problem which has no solution. But in this case, the problem is that there is no government intention to work out a solution. Government does not want to apply its mind,” Naik alleged.
Alleging that after fooling the mining dependents for nearly one year with hollow assurances that Centre would work out a solution to the mining crisis, Naik pointed out that the State government now says that the issue needs to be resolved within its ambit.
“It is becoming clear that the BJP has no intention of solving the mining issue. It is clear that so long as the BJP rules in Goa and at the Centre, the party will bring no solution to the mining issue,” he charged.
“If we want to solve the issue which is legally sustainable then the BJP has to go out of power. If you can’t solve the problem then, please quit the chair,” Naik commented.
Naik said that the deliberate confusion of the BJP-led governments have pushed lakhs of dependants of the industry to the brink of uncertainty and has threatened their very livelihood.
Taking a dig at State governments various delegations that visited Delhi to meet senior Ministers like Narendra Singh Tomar, Nitin Gadkari, Suresh Prabhu, BJP president Amit Shah, the Congress leader said that “all that these visits served was a photo opportunity with no solution at sight”.
“Even the BJP delegation meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a photo opportunity with no solution but just a ‘Dekhta Hu’ comment from the PM,” he added.
