PONDA: Former three member Goa Dairy Administrative Committee Chairman Durgesh Shirodkar suspected foul play in the blast at the Goa Dairy cattle feed plant on Thursday and said that a thorough probe into the matter would unravel the truth.
Addressing the media, Shirodkar demanded that the Chief Minister and Cooperation Minister conduct an indepth probe into the blast at the cattle feed plant either through the Crime Branch or CBI to unearth the truth.
Scoffing at all allegations levelled against him by present Goa Dairy Chairman Rajan Faldessai, Shirodkar suspected foul play into the whole fiasco and charged that people with vested interests were responsible for the blast and unnecessarily trying to defame him.
“The charges leveled against me are misleading and baseless as Faldessai has no corroborative documents to substantiate his claims,” said Shirodkar and wondered how the blast at the plant occurred after 6 pm when pipes, valves or plant were not in operation as the workers had left at 5 pm closing down everything.
Shirodkar stated that CCTV footages installed by him during his tenure at the Goa Dairy Milk Processing Plant and also at the cattle feed plant need to be checked thoroughly to bring out the truth.
He further stated that the committee had procured 400 tonnes of molasses from Sanjeevani Sugar Factory last year and had stored it in the tank at the cattle feed plant last year.
“If the same tank can hold and withstand 400 tonnes of molasses then how could a blast take place with just 35 tonnes of molasses,” questioned Shirodkar.
Shirodkar said during his one-and-half-year tenure, he made a profit of Rs 3.75 crore for Goa Dairy and even disbursed Rs 1.5 crore to farmers as price difference, hence his rivals were jealous about this achievement.
