BICHOLIM: Veteran footballer and former councillor of Bicholim Municipal Council (BMC) Peter Fernandes (52) died while playing on the ground at Bicholim on Tuesday.
According to sources, Fernandes was seen playing on the Shivaji ground at about 5 pm when he suddenly collapsed on the ground. He was rushed to Primary Health Centre Bicholim, where doctors declared him dead. Fernandes was the treasurer of Bicholim Association of Football Fans (BAFF). He also played for Binesh Club (Assonora) and Vasco Club. Fernandes played for the Under-19 team at the Santosh Trophy.
