Former Margao chairperson, businessmen join TMC

PANJIM: The Goa Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) on Friday strengthened its base in Margao with the induction of former Margao Municipal Council (MMC) chairperson and incumbent councillor Ghanashyam Prabhu Shirodkar along with eight other prominent businessmen from the area.

The inductions took place in the presence of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) national vice-president and Rajya Sabha MP Luizinho Faleiro and TMC’s Parliamentary panel leader in Rajya Sabha Derek O’Brien, at the party office, Panjim.

Noting his dissatisfaction at how the current government has neglected people and their interests, Shirodkar said, “There has been no attention paid to the fish market, bus stands, parking lots, railway station and on top of that MLA of Margao is himself involved in `match-fixing’ with BJP. He has done no work for the area over the last few years and the people are waiting for a change in governance.”

Shirodkar said that Mamata Didi is an inspiration and TMC is the only force that can wipe out Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) from Goa.

Welcoming Shirodkar into the party, AITC vice-president and MP Luizinho Faleiro noted that the Goa TMC has a dedicated vision and mission and that they  are prepared to fight tooth and nail to defeat the BJP and usher in a ‘New Dawn’ in the State.
