Former Margao councillor Texeira quits TMC

Alleges that the party fails to keep all its promises

MARGAO: Former councillor of Margao Municipal Council and one of the first local leaders to join Trinamool Congress (TMC), Doris Texeira resigned from the post of General Secretary and primary membership of the party. He alleged that TMC failed to keep even one promise they had made.

“I had joined the party keeping in mind the leadership of Mamata Benerjee and the party had promised a new dawn in Goa. Mamata Benerjee’s guts to take on the mighty BJP had attracted me towards the party. They had promised me that the women will be given prime focus of Margao and Goa, and they will work towards empowering the women ”, she stated.

She further claimed that after joining the party not a single promise was fulfilled.

“I was always behind the TMC leaders to put in place some plans towards empowering the women and identifying their issues, besides working for the youth force. However they were only targeting the three schemes which the party had declared”, said Doris.

Doris also said that she had not resigned for not giving ticket to deserved candidate in Margao but one of the members from the I-PAC told her that they want Hindu candidate and not catholic.
