PANJIM: Former Minister Francisco Xavier alias Mickky Pacheco on Monday rejoined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Mickky has resigned from the primary membership of the Congress after he was denied ticket to contest the upcoming Assembly elections from Benaulim constituency.
Mickky is now likely to contest from Nuvem constituency, where he had won in 2012 and lost in 2017 polls.
Mickky was admitted into the NCP by party president Jose Philip D’Souza in the presence of general secretary Avinash Bhosale and other party members.
After rejoining the NCP, Mickky said that he was in touch with NCP national general secretary Praful Patel and that he has rejoined the party not because he was denied Congress ticket. He recalled that he had won Benaulim seat on NCP symbol three times including a by-election.
Also Adv Shankar Phadte from Porvorim joined the NCP after resigning from the Goa Trinamool Congress Party (TMC). Phadte had joined TMC last month.
