VASCO: Former Mormugao Municipal Council chairperson Shekhar Khadapkar on Saturday mocked Urban Development Minister Milind Naik suggesting that he is ready to give up his candidature if the minister is scared of his popularity.
“Let the Naik win as a councillor from Ward No 2 where I am contesting for the civic elections,” said Khadapkar.
In a press conference held in port town, Khadapkar responded to the comments made by Urban Development Minister on Thursday night in the presence of Chief Minister at Headland Sada calling him Mauvin’s man. Former municipal chairperson also claimed that Urban Development Minister has always been in a limelight for controversial reasons and this time the Supreme Court has also slammed the ward reservation which was unjust especially in the Mormugao Municipal Council jurisdiction. He also raised questions asking why the Chief Minister is still not taking cognisance of this issue regarding UD Minister when Vasco BJP MLA Carlos Almeida and others are vociferous about dropping Naik from his Cabinet position.
