QUEPEM: “Fortified rice provides essential nutrients to consumers and that is why it should be distributed to the common people through Fair Price Shops,” said former minister Prakash Velip.
Speaking at a function held here, Velip said the aim is to provide nutritious rice to common people and lamented that this laudable effort by the government is being misinterpreted.
He stressed the need for the Civil Supplies Department to negate the misinformation being spread by vested interests that plastic rice is being supplied through the Fair price shops.
“Social media has become a bane as things go viral immediately without verifying the facts,” he said while stressing the need to put forth the facts before the people.
