PANJIM: The first-of-its-kind placement drive organised by the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) saw close to 40 students from government colleges getting placed across several IT companies.
Held in July, in association with the government colleges at Quepem, Sanquelim and Khandola, the job placement drive consisted of training, pre-screening tests, interviews and final in-person interviews. More than 60 students had registered for the placement drive.
Industry players like Open Destination, Infotech Pvt Ltd, Zimetric Technology, Creative Capsule, Tangentia, Helix Tech, Genora Industries, Webware.io and Umang software participated in the placement drive.
The DHE said that the IT companies participating in the drive interviewed students for positions like software developer trainee, software testing, UI/UX developer and analyst, among others.
A panel discussion between the DHE officials and participating IT companies was conducted during the placement drive. The panellists spoke about the initiatives which could be taken to enhance skills among students so that the students can be industry ready by the time they graduate. The session also focused on including internships for students in general graduation education courses to enhance the work experience among the students.
