CALANGUTE: Blaming the North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) for concretisation of Calangute, the Calangute Constituency Forum has demanded solution to several issues pertaining to the village.
The forum on Monday submitted a memorandum addressed to the Sarpanch highlighting several issues pertaining to the village. In the memorandum, it pointed out 19 issues which need to be resolved immediately.
The forum stated that due to massive concretisation, Calangute village has lost its popularity which in turn has led to decline in tourism.
It stated that while the authorities have big plans to concretise the village, the village lacks basic infrastructure such as the 24×7 electricity and water supply which have been neglected for several years.
The forum demanded maintenance of internal and access roads in the village and requested to take the sewerage project on top priority since the ongoing work has led to pathetic condition of MDR roads in the village which has impacted the tourism flow.
It claimed that the bad road conditions have led to traffic congestion and increase in the number of accidents.
The forum demanded that no permissions be granted to projects which directly impact the beach environment.
