PANJIM: Members if a new forum titled ‘Social Media Not a Forum to Spread Hatred’ on Wednesday said that it was going to enter social media to keep a track of various ‘defamatory’ posts that had and could be placed on social networking sites and plans to act as “watchdogs.”
At a press conference Wednesday, the group comprising Goa Suraj Party’s Savio Rodrigues, Rohan Govekar, admin of Facebook forum Goa Speaks, Sunila Muzawar, a Chartered Accountant and Meenacshi Martins, psychiatrist and actor gave the other side of the Devu Chodankar anti-Modi comments on Facebook.
“We will take legal recourse to any such posts or comments on social media that work towards creating social and communal tensions in Goa,” Rodrigues, who had contested this Lok Sabha elections got 783 votes on the Goa Suraj party ticket. Chodankar, 31, from Merces is in the news for his anti-Modi comments on Facebook. A police complaint has been lodged against him by Atul Pai Kane and the High Court has rejected his anticipatory bail plea. He has been summoned by Goa police on June 1.
