MARGAO: Nationalist Congress Party MLA Churchill Alemao on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the approach road to the Railway Under Bridge at Seraulim which will be shortly be taken up for construction by the Railways.
The approach roads to RUB will be 250 mts long on one side and 220 mts long on the other side and have been provided to be 20 mts wide in the long run. The present work is estimated to cost around 2.28 crore.
The RUB will have two separate sections separated by a wall and each section will be 6 mts wide with a height of 4 mts and work on this will start once the road is widened to enable the railways to take their machinery to the place where the RUB will be built.
The RUB is estimated to cost over Rs. 7 crore and Goa government has already paid its share amounting to Rs. 3.65 crore and the RUB is expected to be commissioned by next year as the approach roads are targeted to be completed by August 2020.
Churchill said he is grateful to chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant for paying the railways the amount the state had to pay to construct this RUB and thus enabling him to fulfill one of the main promises he had made to the voters in Betalbatim of getting either an over bridge or an underpass to cross the tracks.
The villagers have expressed their gratitude to Churchill.
