Sanguem: “The IIT will come up in Sanguem and the foundation stone for the same will be laid in the next six months,” claimed Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant while speaking at the foundation laying ceremony of Paikdev Temple at Sanguem.
“Those opposing the project should take a step behind and those having documents to claim ownership rights of land here should submit the same to the Deputy Collector or the Office of the Collector and we will verify the claims and pay compensation in genuine cases,” informed Sawant
Speaking further, Sawant said that those opposing the project should realise that when the IIT comes up here, the future will be bright for the youth from Sanguem and other nearby areas and it will also bring about development in the taluka.
The CM also stated that whatever land is earmarked for the Chapel and the cemetery at Chinchant, would be left aside and allotted to the Chapel authorities.
Sawant also assured jobs to the locals at the IIT project and urged the people from Sanguem to cooperate with the government to pave way for the IIT project. “The project is not a pollution-based industry but is an educational institution which would push the development aspect of Sanguem taluka,” informed Sawant adding that the government would not back down with a handful of people opposing the project.
