BICHOLIM: Bicholim MLA and Speaker Rajesh Patnekar along with Bicholim Municipal Council laid the foundation stone for Biomethanation project worth Rs 2 crore, on Friday.
As per the information, this is a unique project of the government that will utilise five tonnes of garbage and generate 250-300mw electricity that will suffice the needs of whole treatment plant thus saving revenue on electricity bills and also produce manure as a by product. It will also provide relief to the surrounding localities by preventing bad odour.
Speaking on the occasion, Patnekar said that this is a unique project which would be a boon for the BMC.
