PANJIM: The Department of Women & Child Development (WCD) will lay foundation stone for 10 state-of-the-art Anganwadis on the Women’s Day on March 8. Last month, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane had assured to build 100 Anganwadis equipped with best of the facilities to provide children a healthy environment.
“Goa is going to be the first State in the country to build state-of-the-art Anganwadi centres. We are taking the first batch of about 100 Anganwadis across the State out of which we will be laying foundation stones for 10, on Friday,” WCD Minister Vishwajit Rane said. The foundation stone for these 10 modern Anganwadis will be laid at Sattari and Dharbandora.
WCD Director Deepak Desai said that each Anganwadi would cost around Rs 25 lakh comprising of all facilities such as playing area, teaching area, kitchen, parents teaching area, courtyard.
The minister had last month told reporters that 100 centres would be built during the (2019-20) financial year with majority located in Sattari, which has remained backward among other talukas. He had also stated that the best equipped upcoming Anganwadi centres would provide the best of the facilities on par with play schools to ensure children develop and grow healthy.
