Four arrested for IPL betting

CALANGUTE: Calangute Police arrested four Rajasthan natives and one Nepali involved in an India Premier League (IPL) betting. 

According to Calangute Police Inspector Nolasco Raposo, based on a reliable information, conducted a raid in a villa at Candolim, on Wednesday night and apprehended five alleged accused persons identified as Raju Singh (25), Mohit Kumar (21), Ravi Mamtani (30), Sagar Singh Rathore, all natives of Rajasthan and one Suraj Soni (28), native of Nepal while they were involved in IPL betting. 

The Calangute police also seized cash amount of Rs 95,000, nine mobile phones and two laptops during the raid and registered a case against the accused persons under Section 3 and 4 of the Goa Public Gambling Act. 

PI Raposo further informed that the alleged accused persons were subsequently released on bail after furnishing sureties to the tune of Rs 10,000.

PSI Viraj Naik is further investigating the case under the supervision of PI Raposo and overall supervision of SDPO Porvorim Edwin Colaco and SP North Utkrisht Prasoon.
