Four held for assault in Canacona

CANACONA, NOV 9
Canacona Police on Tuesday arrested four accused persons in connection with the assault case during the February 14 committee election of Shri Mallikarjun Devasthan, Gaondongrim.
It may be recalled that police cases were registered with Canacona Police by Shri Mallikarjun Devathan Committee against 13 persons, who were accused under various IPC sections for disruption of election meeting and assaulting the committee members during the meeting on February 14, 2010.
According to Canacona Police, as part of its investigation, four of the accused persons were arrested earlier and released on bail, while four more were put under arrest on Tuesday.
“The police released the four accused persons, who were arrested on Tuesday, on producing personal bonds,” informed Canacona Police.
Police further informed that Tuesday’s arrests were part of the investigation and it will continue before a charge sheet is filed in the court against the accused persons in due course of time.
