VASCO: Verna Police with the help of Railway Police personnel succeeded in cracking a murder case within 24 hours by arresting the four alleged accused persons, who were on the verge of fleeing the State via train.
In a press statement, the Verna Police informed that on December 27, between 4 pm and 6 pm at the Dando Beach, Velsao, the four alleged accused namely Dulal Das, aged 25 years; Manash Nath, aged 26 years; Manash Das, aged 24 years and Ridip Das, aged 22 years, currently residing at Birla, and all natives of Assam murdered Khagen Nath, aged around 25 years, also a resident of Birla and native of Assam by stabbing him with glass bottle and further assaulting with stone and wooden plank on the head and chest region thereby causing instant death.
“During the course of investigation, it was revealed that all the four persons allegedly involved in commission of the crime and accordingly information was developed and circulated among the police stations across South Goa District,” the police informed.
Accordingly on suspicion, the Konkan Railway Police Station staff apprehended the four allegedly accused persons, who were in the process of fleeing from Goa after the commission of crime.
Verna Police Station Police Inspector Sherif Jaques took over the custody of all the four suspected persons. Later, after interrogation, the alleged accused persons confessed of their involvement in the crime.
The motive of the crime was due to sudden provocation under the influence of alcohol while they were enjoying on the beach as mentioned by the police.
The alleged four accused persons have been arrested under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code. Police Sub-Inspector Pravin Simepurushkar is further conducting the investigation.
