MAPUSA: Four illegal structures which were allegedly constructed on Comunidade land at Cunchelim were demolished under police protection yesterday. Four structures including a house and three under construction structures were razed by the authorities.
The owners claimed that the demolition was carried out without any prior intimation and no notices were served to them and alleged that they have been paying a monthly amount to the Comunidade.
President of the Comunidade Michael Carasco said “Three months ago, we had demolished an illegal structure and asked the occupants who are mainly non Goans to obtain necessary approvals including permissions from Municipality and the PDA but they failed to do so.”
