PONDA: Four passengers were injured while the car driver escaped unhurt after the car in which they were travelling met with an accident along the NH-4A at Sateri-Pooran in Dharbandora on Wednesday.
According to Ponda police, the Karnataka registered vehicle was proceeding towards Ponda when the driver lost control of the car at about 3.30 pm. The car rolled over three times before coming to a halt.
The car driver, Upendra Bist, escaped unhurt while Upendra’s wife Swati Bist and their 3-year old daughter, his father-in-law Kulbhushan Rastogi and mother-in-law Rekha Rastogi were injured.
The injured were shifted to the Ponda Sub District hospital and they later preferred to consult a private medical practitioner in the city.
Incidentally, two drivers had died at the same spot last week after the vehicles collided head on few meters away from the accident that was reported today.
In another accident along the NH-4 A near the Sugarcane factory, a truck driver was injured after the vehicle overturned in the wee hours of Wednesday. The Ponda-bound truck was carrying vegetable items from Belgaum.
The PWD had recently undertaken the hot-mixing of the NH-4A from the Goa border to Curti-Ponda and the work is nearing completion.
Many motorists suspect that the increased height of the road shoulder due the hot-mixing work could be linked to the recent mishaps.
