VALPOI: The Shel Melauli villagers protest has completed four months. After their continuing protest against the proposed IIT Project for the fourth consecutive month, Melauli villagers, on Friday, blocked the village main road.

Amid the protest, Save Melauli Village Convenor Shashikant Sawardekar, has challenged Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to visit their village and hold a press conference against the villagers. “Don’t give rubbish comments to the media people on Melauli village by saying that you don’t bother about Melauli village and that you will build the IIT Project in village,” Sawardekar said.

“Let anything happens to us, we will not stop the protest against the proposed IIT project. Any how we will not allow the IIT Project in our village,” said another villager.

The villagers of Shel Melauli have been standing firm on their demand that they don’t want the IIT Project in their village as it will impact the village’s biodiversity among others.
