Four more HSS apply for increase in student intake

PANJIM: The Education department has received applications from four higher secondary schools requesting an increase in student intake, following a long waiting list particularly in the Science stream.

The State has already decided to increase the seats at five institutions so far.
The four applications from Curchorem, Ponda and other places in the north come following a rush for admissions for class XI in all the three streams – Science, Commerce and Arts. The institutions will have to wait to increase the capacity of students as the department’s go-ahead will be based on a feasibility report.
“The respective ADEIs have been tasked with compiling feasibility reports,  based on which we will decide whether to grant them additional divisions,” Director G P Bhat said speaking to Herald.
In the wake of the rush for admissions in Margao, the department recently announced creating additional divisions at four HSS located in and around the town in addition to one HSS in Bardez taluka.
