PANJIM: Four officers of the State Forest Service are all set to be promoted to the Indian Forest Service (IFS) ranking under the AGMUT cadre.
The selection committee of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has cleared the names of State forest officers Anand Jadav, Aniket Gaonkar, Nandkumar Parab and Vishal Surve for promotion.
Sources said that the names are sent to Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) with the necessary recommendation. “The notification will be issued shortly,” sources said.
As per the rule, the State IFS strength is fixed at one-third of the AGMUT cadre strength. In Goa, out of 12 cadre officers, four are reserved for State forest officers.
Anand Jadav is currently holding charge as Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF) headquarters, Aniket Gaonkar is DFC wildlife-South while Vishwal Surve is DCF for Social Forestry. Nandkumar Parab is the general manager of Goa Forest Development Corporation.
Sources said that the four IFS posts were vacant for quite some time, as the State officers were not eligible. As per the rules, the officers have to complete eight years in service, to get elevated to IFS.
“All these four officers completed eight years in service on January 1, 2022,” sources said.
