VASCO: This is the fourth raid conducted by CBI and other agencies at the office of Garrison Engineer (GE) in the last few years. The GE contractors complained that it had become a trend for engineers to demand bribes at all stages of the contract. They said they had been complaining about such demands, but nothing could change the movement of files and bills in GE.
A Military Engineer Services contractor C V Vaidya said, “When BJP came to power at the Centre, we thought that corruption would come down in Garrison Engineer. However, since the time Parrikar took charge as defence minister, the corruption has increased.
