ORLIM: Fr Conceicao D’Silva was laid to rest on Monday evening after Archbishop of Goa and Daman, Rt Rev Filipe Neri Ferrao led a Concelebrated High Mass at the St Michael Church, Orlim.
The archbishop in his introductory words said, “All of us are sad because his life journey in this world ended on Sunday. His priestly life was a concern for others since he preached the word of God with zeal and always did the will of God. His prayer services were conducted according to the teachings of the Church and he always prayed for the poor, suffering and the downtrodden. He was also a lover of Konkani. Let us thank and praise the Holy Trinity for Fr Conceicao’s life and the gifts of healing bestowed on him.”
In his homily, Fr Valerian Vaz, Rector of Saligao Seminary said, ”Fr Conceicao accepted the will of God, as Jesus accepted the will of his Father. His parents didn’t abort him even though the doctors had warned her that her life was in danger saying ‘let the will of Goa take place in Fr Conceicao’s birth’ and when her son decided to join the seminary, she thanked God for not aborting him and said it was God’s will for him to become a priest to serve in the vineyard of the Lord.”
Fr Conceicao did his priestly duties by providing the sacraments to his parishioners and taking care of the needy he became a living example to all the people he came across in his life.
Fr Vaz said that Fr Conceicao loved to pray together with his volunteer team and his assistant parish priests early in the morning by reciting the Rosary and seek the heavenly graces.
As an evangelist Fr Conceicao travelled all over the world to conduct services, specially where Goans lived and helped them to lead a good catholic life.
