In a press note, Fr Anthony Castello, the Secretary General of the Pilar Society, stated that the mortal remains of Fr Raposo will arrive in Goa on Monday morning. Accordingly, the funeral mass for Fr Raposo is scheduled for Tuesday at the Mission Seminary Chapel at 4 pm followed by the burial.
At the request of the Society of Pilar, Fr Peter Raposo had completed his Masters in Organizational Communication and Training and Development at DePaul University at Chicago and was awarded a scholarship by the Ohio University and was pursuing his Doctoral Studies at Ohio University, USA, where he passed away.
Returning back to his parish after a day out with his friends, Fr Raposo complained of uneasiness. He was administered medication but his condition deteriorated further. He passed away while he was being taken to the hospital having suffered a massive cardiac arrest at about 9 pm Ohio time on March 13, the press note stated.
Fr Mark Moore, the Pastor of St Paul Catholic Church in Athens, Ohio, had a solemn vespers on March 17, and a memorial service the following day in memory of Fr Peter Raposo. In his homily, Fr Peter Fernandes encouraged the people saying, “Do not be afraid to place your unknown future into the hands of a known God.”
Twelve priests concelebrated the mass, along with four Pilar Priests, Frs Jose Baptista, Mario Pereira, Carlos Pereira and Peter Fernandes
