MAPUSA: The Additional District and Sessions Court-I at Mapusa has fixed the sexual assault case involving senior journalist Tarun Tejpal for framing of charges on September 28.
When the case came up for hearing on Thursday, the judge adjourned the case to September 28 with an order that charges be framed against Tejpal on that day.
After the hearing, Public Prosecutor Francis Tavera said that besides the sections that Tejpal is currently charged with, the prosecution could also charge him under more sections. Presently, Tejpal is charged under Sections 354, 354 A, 341, 342, 376, 376(2) (F), 376(2) (K) of IPC.
When asked for his comments, Tejpal’s Advocate Pramod Dube said that he would examine the order on framing of charges and decide on the next course of action. Meanwhile, the court has prohibited the media from reporting the proceedings of the case until completion of the trial.
