MAPUSA: Mapusa MLA and Urban Development Minister Francis D’Souza hoisted the tri-colour on the occasion of Republic Day function at Mapusa, on Friday.
On the occasion, D’Souza said that last year 326 people died in road accidents in the State. “These are avoidable deaths, therefore, people should understand and follow traffic rules to avoid road accident deaths,” he said.
Highlighting the developments in the State since the adoption of the Constitution, he said earlier people used to go outside the State to pursue higher studies.
Present on the occasion were Aldona MLA Glen Ticlo, Additional Collector Dashrath M Redkar, Deputy Collector Gaurish Shankhwalkar, MMC Chairperson Rohan Kavlekar, SDPO Serafin Dias, Mapusa PI Tushar Lotlikar, Mapusa traffic PI Tushar Vernekar and others.
