PANJIM: Former Congress Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik termed the proposed Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance (FRDI) Bill, 2017 as a “virtual dacoity in the bank accounts of common man”.
Naik, the Congress State President, addressing media persons on Wednesday strongly objected to the proposed bill. “BJP government is going to commit a virtual dacoity on bank accounts of common man through Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance Bill 2017,” he said.
He added, “If the bill becomes a law, the government can take a stand dishonouring your cheques even if you have funds in your account and deny you your right to withdraw money from your hard earned savings.”
He went on to say, “Your own fate and fate of your children will be at risk if banks treat you as pauper.” Naik alleged that the government seeks to financially help those banks and industrialists who have incurred heavy debts.
