PANJIM: In a freak accident, occupant/s of a car were injured late on New Year’s Eve, after a container truck banged into the car at Chimbel junction.
Old Goa Police informed Herald that the Haryana registered container truck’s brakes failed after which it lost control and banged into the Goa registered car.
The driver of the truck, reportedly a non-Goan, was soon taken into custody. The injured occupant/s of the car were rushed for medical attention.
More details were awaited as the team of police were still at the accident site at the time of going to the press.
The State witnessed chock-a-block situation on New Year’s eve with several thousand tourists descending upon Goa. Many of the tourists have driven to Goa to welcome the New Year.
