VASCO: The Directorate of Municipal Administration has provided financial assistance to the Mormugao Municipal Council to help the people of containment zones with the essential commodities.
Acting Chairperson Reema Sonurlekar took an initiative in supplying around 1,700 grocery items in a packaged form in the containment zone at Mangor Hill, here.
On Friday, theMMC went an extra mile to help and support the people from the Mangor Hill containment zone area by providing them with some essential grocery items which the people had been demanding for a long time.
Each packet is having essentials items worth Rs 100 and 2,000 packets have been prepared to distribute, according to the sources. Remaining packets are likely to be distributed in micro containment zones namely Chota Mangor, Bada Mangor, Sada, Baina and Shantinagar area.
Speaking to the reporters, Acting Chairperson Sonurlekar stated that the financial help was provided by DMA to supply grocery items to the people in the containment zone.
Sonurlekar also mentioned that since the COVID related lockdown, all the councillors have worked tirelessly in their wards in assisting and helping people in supplying the essential items timely.”
