Freedom fighter Gopinath passes away

CUNCOLIM: Gopinath Naik Mulvi (87), resident of Balli, Cuncolim and a freedom fighter, who took part in the Goa Liberation movement, made great contribution to the Liberation movement and a pioneer in post-Liberation social work, passed away Monday morning due to old age. 

He is survived by his wife, three married sons, a married daughter and grandchildren. He was cremated at Margao Hindu Crematorium. 

Gopinath had participated in the Liberation movement under the banner of Azad Gomantak Dal. Staying underground, he had participated in various revolutionary activities of the Azad Gomantak Dal and was actively involved in Liberation activities under the leadership of Dattaram Uttam Desai. 

Gopinath, who was born into a poor peasant family in a rural area Balli, was inspired by his love for his motherland and took part in the Liberation movement.
