CANACONA: Freedom fighter, Vithal Prabhugaonkar (78) of Welwadda-Poinguinim died on Monday night following a brief illness.
The mortal remains of the departed freedom fighter were cremated on Tuesday morning, as many residents and others paid their last respects at his residence. Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar paid his condolences to the bereaved family.
Prabhugaonkar is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter and grandchildren.
Prabhugaonkar is known to have been closely associated with Goa’s liberation movement and had worked under the leadership of freedom fighter, Prabhakar Sinari.
