French Navy officer drowns in Anjuna hotel swimming pool

CALANGUTE, JULY 14
A 25-year-old French Navy officer drowned in a swimming pool at a hotel in Anjuna on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Orlati Vincent David.
According to DySP Sammy Tavares, a French crew of 260 had arrived in the State for some naval exercise and was putting up in different hotels. However on July 12, a crew of 12 persons had put up at a hotel in Anjuna.
DySP Tavares further informed that after the party at the hotel on Tuesday night, the crew noticed one of their colleagues missing. After a thorough search, the missing person was found in the swimming pool at about 2 am on Wednesday. The panic-stricken officers informed the hotel staff and Anjuna Police.
Anjuna Police rushed to the site and fished out the body, which was later sent for autopsy.
Anjuna Police Inspector Manjunath Dessai along with DySP Tavares and North Goa SP Arvind Gawas visited the site.
Anjuna Police have registered a case of negligence against the hotel. Police is investigating the case further.
