ALDONA:  People of Aldona have been facing power outages almost every day over the last week causing several difficulties to them.
Locals opine that underground power cabling is the way forward that will ensure no wastage of power in transmission and also increase the power supply capacity.
On Thursday as well the constituency witnessed three power cuts each lasting for over an hour.
Residents already fear the state of power during the monsoon as the slightest of wind and drizzles end up causing power failure raising a question on the quality of pre-monsoon work carried out by the department.
Raising the issue of power woes faced by people in Aldona constituency, Congress spokesperson Amarnath Panjikar demanded that the department should upgrade the sub-stations.
“Despite undertaking numerous shutdowns, people from Adona has been suffering from frequent power cuts over the last one week,” said Panjikar.
The Ex-Deputy Sarpanch and villager of Bastora, Andrew D’souza lamented over the frequent power cuts in Aldona over the last one week.
“The people of Aldona are already fed up with the power cuts taking place on a regular basis. Proper underground cabling is the only solution to this. The breakdowns are too frequent ranging between three to four times per day. There is a need for the local MLA to look into this matter,” said Andrew.
