Margao: Two frog hunters were arrested by Forest officials while patrolling in the Netravalim areas.
According to the forest officials Sadanand Malik & Anand Arkas while patrolling saw a torch light in the open pasture land at Zamgal, Neturlim and proceeded in that direction. On seeing the approching forest vehicle, 2 persons started running, whom the forest officials manage to nab.
Lawrence Agostinho Dias, and Mercon Agostino Dias, residents of Vaddem, Sanguem were arrested and a gunny bag which contained live bull frogs was recovered from them. The bull frogs were later safely released.
Both the accused said they had gone for fishing at Curpem and while coming home saw some frogs on the road after which they lured.
Both the accused agreed to having committed the offence and were later released on the next day after producing of compounding affidavit and DD of Rs 10k as security deposit by them.
Both the accused are summoned to be present before RFO Kurdi from June 11t to 15 from 9.30am to 1 pm to cooperate in the inquiry proceedings.
