MARGAO: In a move to keep a check on the office staff and to ensure better discipline, the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) has decided to put into service a CCTV surveillance system in the municipal building.
The CCTV system, for which Rs 2.5 lakh has been spent, will start working from May 1 and the footage can be monitored from the chambers of MMC Chairperson Lyndon Pereira.
The decision was taken to stop the habit of some staff of leaving early or entering the office late and not completing the tasks assigned to them on time.
The biometric attendance register system is also set to be implemented again although this system along with the CCTV system had seen opposition in the past.
